Today Al-Jasser volunteered to assist the new youth group 'Hope Ship' in support of a wonderful cause.

After reading Maryam's blog:
HERE

and finding out more about Hope Ship, we would like to announce that we would like to help them
collecting Plastic Bottles>> gaining BD1600 for a 2 year old girl that needs a wheelchair

Soon inshallah we will post more information about this charity project and on how we will collect the bottles and let you know of the project's progress.

Our First Interview with one of our most engaging volunteers, Hisham Ghareeb.
Hisham has been very active, volunteering with AlJasser and he hopes to continue. He is now a high school senior and if you add up all his community service hours done with AlJasser, it would cumulate to approximately 15 hours! And he’s still got more to go.

Q: Why are you interested in volunteering?
I’m interested in it because of the many benefits it would offer me. I mainly volunteer because I aspire to be a positive and active member in the society and give back. Also, I would like to grow into a better person. Volunteering helps me with my social skills and even life skills, I get the opportunity to meet new people and we end up becoming great friends.

Q: What would you like to get from volunteering?
Friends and personal fulfillment.

Q: What have you enjoyed most in previous volunteer assignments?
I enjoyed the “Wheel Chair event” the most, it was so much fun ‘rolling around’ in City Center. In addition to that I enjoyed selling raffle tickets to people knowing that the money went to charity. Also, I loved helping others and meeting wonderful people that have impacted my life and changed me for the better.

Q: How does volunteering fit in with your busy schedule as a high school senior?
As a senior I have to put my studies as my first priority of course, and secondly volunteering. As a student volunteering helps me to get a prior interaction with society, preparing me for College life, considering the fact that I am currently doing many activities with AlJasser, it betters my CV and college applications.

Q: What would you consider the ideal community ‘service’?
When it comes to volunteering everything is ideal to me, just knowing that you’re helping is enough.

Q: What do you consider to be Aljasser’s most important assets?
The people who we volunteer for.

Q: How do you see the future for this industry?
I hope very bright, to me AlJasser is a great idea and I hope that It will bloom into something wonderful, especially with gaining more youth volunteers, big new events and most importantly Supporters.

Special Olympics Bahrain Meeting

The color Blue indicates the post from Al-Jasser, the rest is the letter.
Hello Volunteers, today we have received a letter from the ‘Youth Comity” in the Special Olympics Bahrain, Here:

“Hello,
As a member of the ‘youth comity’ in the Special Olympics Bahrain,

I would like to inform you that a seminar will be held about this sports event, where several speakers will talk about the special Olympics and it's targets.

We are searching for volunteers (That are University and High School Students / but everyone is invited to volunteer there is no age limit).

It is certainly a one a kind event that will take place here in our beloved country Bahrain and for the very FIRST TIME. It is where you will get the opportunity to see how people with disabilities have the capability to use their skills to become marvelous athletes. It is quite unfortunate that this genre of sports does not receive enough media coverage and attention, hopefully by raising enough volunteers that will change.

Seminar Information:-
Place: Bahrain National Staduim
Date: January 28th 2012
Time: 6:00PM-8:30PM

Please Note that the seminar is MANDATORY to whoever would like to volunteer, and if a person would like to volunteer and has not attended the seminar is not allowed to volunteer in the event.

Please select your best volunteers to attend the seminar, and provide me with their name and mobile number.”

Al-Jasser will hold a meeting where whoever wishes to volunteer will submit the volunteer form and receive the community service file.
The date for the meeting will be set in a later date.
Keep checking your emails as well as our updates via. Social Media (Twitter and Facebook).

The interviewing will take 2 hours, from 10 - 12 AM. Who wants to attend has to be at the Bahrain International Mobility center at 9:30 AM.

Afterwards the Bahrain International Mobility center will hold the wheelchair activity again at City Center.

At least 4 volunteers have to attend. All attendants have to confirm with us by 8 PM tomorrow January 4th.
