Our First Interview with one of our most engaging volunteers, Hisham Ghareeb.
Hisham has been very active, volunteering with AlJasser and he hopes to continue. He is now a high school senior and if you add up all his community service hours done with AlJasser, it would cumulate to approximately 15 hours! And he’s still got more to go.

Q: Why are you interested in volunteering?
I’m interested in it because of the many benefits it would offer me. I mainly volunteer because I aspire to be a positive and active member in the society and give back. Also, I would like to grow into a better person. Volunteering helps me with my social skills and even life skills, I get the opportunity to meet new people and we end up becoming great friends.

Q: What would you like to get from volunteering?
Friends and personal fulfillment.

Q: What have you enjoyed most in previous volunteer assignments?
I enjoyed the “Wheel Chair event” the most, it was so much fun ‘rolling around’ in City Center. In addition to that I enjoyed selling raffle tickets to people knowing that the money went to charity. Also, I loved helping others and meeting wonderful people that have impacted my life and changed me for the better.

Q: How does volunteering fit in with your busy schedule as a high school senior?
As a senior I have to put my studies as my first priority of course, and secondly volunteering. As a student volunteering helps me to get a prior interaction with society, preparing me for College life, considering the fact that I am currently doing many activities with AlJasser, it betters my CV and college applications.

Q: What would you consider the ideal community ‘service’?
When it comes to volunteering everything is ideal to me, just knowing that you’re helping is enough.

Q: What do you consider to be Aljasser’s most important assets?
The people who we volunteer for.

Q: How do you see the future for this industry?
I hope very bright, to me AlJasser is a great idea and I hope that It will bloom into something wonderful, especially with gaining more youth volunteers, big new events and most importantly Supporters.
